Controlling Your Diet Is Just A ‘Fist’ Away

Make a fist.

March 1, 2013 -- Go ahead: You aren’t going to hit anyone with it. You’re going to use it as a simple but very effective way to measure and control your sugar levels and calorie intakes: The size of your fist represents one portion of any given good or beverage. As the illustration at the right shows, each finger represents 20-25% of one portion.

Her doctor is always on her case to improve her numbers through a healthy diet, but it is hard to eat well on the road. Yet she has been able to improve her health by doing one thing that she has never thought about before: walking.

April 10, 2013 -- Spring has sprung, but sometimes you need to tell your body to get in gear. If you cannot get yourself moving, it is because your body has not shed the burden of winter. You may need to adopt an action plan: If you don’t shed the sloth soon it will become a bad habit, dragging you down.

You can recue yourself. If you can drag yourself to eat, move or drink, you already have the energy to get ready for the warmer weather. But let’s make sure we get rid of the three biggest, baddest habits first!
